Abstract: Public transportation companies should be motivated to provide a high quality service in the public transportation system, while always trying to cut their costs. The aim of the research is to investigate the perceived quality of transport services in Iasi – an important student center from Romania. Research methodology combines qualitative study based on focus group with quantitative study based on survey. The sample is represented by students from Iasi who travel by bus. The most important factors that provide a general satisfaction are: drivers’ behaviour, amenities, technology, convenience, controllers’ behaviour and price. Students are generally dissatisfied about the quality of public transportation. The most valued factor is technology while the least appreciated is convenience. Using the results of the research, this study will suggest strategies to improve the quality and efficiency of public transportation in Iasi.
