Synthesis of α-Linolenic Acid by Leishmania enriettii
Year: 1963
Type: article
Abstract: The zooflagellate Leishmania enriettii synthesizes alpha-linolenic acid as determined by experiments with stearic acid uniformly labeled with C(14). This is the first demonstration of the synthesis of alpha-linolenic acid by a nonphotosynthetic organism.
