Abstract: In this interview, Sophie Binet looks back on her personal, professional, and activist career, from her early involvement with the Jeunesse ouvrière chrétienne (JOC) (Young Christian Workers) and in high school and student movements in France, to her appointment as general secretary of the Confédération générale du travail (CGT) (General Confederation of Labour) in March 2023. From challenging neoliberal management to fighting the Far Right, from the relationship between trade unions and political parties to the conditions that make mass movements possible, she shares her vision of the role of unions in the fight against capitalism.
