Abstract: 400 normal-hearing high-school students drawn from Metropolitan Detroit were administered a battery of discrimination tests. The battery consisted of 5 pure-tone (1000-cps) tests and 1 speech-discrimination test. The parameters of the pure-tone stimulus investigated were frequency (monotic and dichotic). intensity (monotic and dichotic), and duration (monotic only). For each of the pure-tone tests, difference thresholds were obtained using a 2-alternative forced-choice procedure. The speech-discrimination test was presented at various V/N ratios and percentage correct scores recorded. These normative data are compared to previous studies that have utilized well-trained subjects. Additionally, multiple regression and factor analyses were carried out on these normative data and the results are discussed. [Work supported by the National Institutes of Health, U. S.
