Year: 2012
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: The aim of this work is to study the information-seeking behavior of the hospital staff in a large public hospital, the METAXA Cancer Hospital in Greece. An empirical research was conducted through the development of a specially designed questionnaire. The survey was based on a stratified random sampling covering 20% of the total hospital staff (medical, nursing, and administration/technical). The auxiliary hospital personnel were excluded from the survey. Out of 167 questionnaires distributed, 145 were completed and returned, i.e., a response rate of 87%. This survey reveals needs, preferences for certain information resources, and obstacles to information seeking as well as the crucial role of hospital libraries and information services.
