Maroc, légitimité religieuse du pouvoir et démocratie : un couplage impossible

Year: 2001
Type: article
Abstract: The gap between the intellectual language and the local dialects in Morocco has projected intellectuals in a cultural space which was not from Maghreb. More over there has been a general ignorance of the population about the multidimensional and intellectual aspects of Islamic thought and no knowledge and use of Islamic critical stance. The Moroccan kings have legitimate their power by a non criticised interpretation of holly writings, by a contractual root and by a mythical link with the Prophet. It quite succeeded until now to prevent the transformation of « subjects » to « citizens ». In general what has to be conquered in North Africa and by the Islamic thought is surely a critical stance acknowledged of the multiple and complex dimensions of the manifestation of religion in society which is far from a mere discredit of religion.
