Abstract: Two new metabolites exhibiting an inhibitory activity against the development of sea urchin embryos were isolated from the culture of Aspergillus candidus Link. The structures of the compounds, candidusin A and B, were determined on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic means. Candidusin B inhibited DNA and RNA synthesis but not protein synthesis.
