Type: article
Abstract: Reviewing of provenances, even if they are supposed to be sure, of identifications and of possible remodeling of imperial portraits within a Mediterranean area is emphasized. The outstanding case of the "gallery" of effigies at Martres-Tolosane where there are several portraits of the same individual figured at different ages of his life with different aspects, particularly heir apparent, post-mortem portraits, figured as heros or not, amid others individuals, points out to the function of Imperial cult and the preservation of the Empire stability.
