Abstract: For educational organizations is important to have high levels of organizational commitment, driven by the empowerment aspect as a tool to transfer and equality in decision-making among all teachers-researchers. In this sense, we propose to determine the relationship of empowerment and organizational commitment of teachers and researcher in Zulia state universities, with reference to the approach of Robbins (2004), Gibson and others (2006), Hellriegel and Slocum (2005), among others. It is a descriptive research and field, from a stratified sample consisted of 139 teachers. The results indicate that both the elements and the very nature of empowerment significantly and directly influences on organizational commitment, because the decision-making, shared responsibility, knowledge, teamwork, autonomy offered to them in the middle work and clear expression of goals show influence on the identification, membership and loyalty of the teacher researchers to their institutions.
