Abstract: Despite the wealth of literature on e-marketplaces, research on electronic logistics and/or \ntransport marketplaces, is scarce. Electronic Logistics Marketplace (ELM) refers to an \nelectronic hub using web-based systems that link shippers and carriers together for the \npurpose of collaboration or trading. \nVia an international scoping study, our research aims to evaluate different types of ELM, \nestablish the likely associated operational models and ELMs relationship with tailored \nlogistics. Multiple case study approach is adopted with data has been collected from \nshippers, transport companies and the technology providers. The case studies involve \ninterviews, data analysis and process mapping. The research reveals that the ELM business model is still at its infancy stage but with \nhuge potential for growth in optimising supply chain networks, and enabling the \nprovision of customised logistics.
