Drug Delivery: Gold Nanocluster Embedded Albumin Nanoparticles for Two‐Photon Imaging of Cancer Cells Accompanying Drug Delivery (Small 33/2015)

Year: 2015
Type: article
Abstract: The fabrication of biocompatible gold nanocluster-embedded albumin nanoparticles for potential theranostic applications is reported by A. Chattopadhyay and co-workers on page 4075. Anti-cancer drug doxorubicin-loaded nanoparticles are internalized by cervical cancer HeLa cells in vitro, leading to apoptotic cell death. Simultaneously, imaging can be achieved by using one- and two-photon excitation, with the two-photon excitation/emission wavelengths lying in the biological window of 650–900 nm. The luminescent nanoparticles may serve as model platforms for theranostics.
