Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: It had done the quantitative determination of the antioxidant enzymes superoxide Dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) and of oxidative stress marker, Malondialdehyde (MDA) on erythrocytes of 57 people between 20 and 30 years of age: 19 people undergoing intense training, 19 people with moderate and continuous physical training and 19 people in a control group without training. \nThe value of SOD in the group of intense exercise (1171 U SOD / g Hb) was lower than in the normal group (1731 U SOD / g Hb) (p less than 0.05). The value of moderate exercise group (1997 U SOD / g Hb) was higher than in the normal group. The value of CAT in the group of intense exercise (CAT 0.51 k / g Hb) was lower than in normal group (0.60 k CAT / g Hb) (p less than 0.025). The value of moderate exercise group (0.51 k CAT / g Hb) was lower than in the normal group (p less than 0.025). The value of MDA in the group of intense exercise (11.64 ηmol MDA / g Hb) was lower than in the normal group (11.89 ηmol MDA / g Hb). The value of moderate exercise group (12.85 ηmol MDA / g Hb) was higher than in the normal group. \nWe conclude that the exercise group had less intense activity for superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) due to increased oxidative stress by intense and discontinuous exercise. The moderate exercise group showed a higher activity for superoxide dismutase (SOD), as an adaptive response to moderate and continuous exercise. \nKey Words: Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), Catalase (CAT), Malondialdehyde (MDA), Lipid Peroxidation, Moderate Exercise, Intense Exercise, Oxidative Stress.
