Abstract: A challenge for researchers, mentors, and teachers of any field of study and shared interest is networking. To support the scholarly quest of those individuals throughout the world who are motivated to learn about the multidisciplinary fields of chemical biology and drug design, this editorial is aimed towards inspiring the creation of a global network. This will, of course, require expertise, organization, and sponsorship – key components of the first steps towards launching a World Project Initiative for Chemical Biology and Drug Design (a non-profit consortium to be created). Proposals to address both near- and long-term objectives to support research, mentoring, and teaching of chemical biology and drug design are welcome! Expertise for the World Project Initiative from academia, industry, and government will be especially significant towards achieving recognition of chemical biology and drug design with respect to innovative science, technology and medicine. Organization for the World Project Initiative will exploit the networking power of the internet to construct web gateways to, for example, this journal as well as meetings and both scholarly research and drug discovery interactive links to academic, industrial, and government institutions. Sponsorship for the World Project Initiative will require resources and funding to enable networking and what is envisaged to become an extraordinary step in establishing a global realization and future legacy of chemical biology and drug design to advance basic research and drug discovery. Your thoughts, involvement and/or patronage are enthusiastically invited (send a note of interest in the World Project Initiative for Chemical Biology and Drug Design to: [email protected])
