Abstract: Michael Morgan who I have respect for professionally, but also a well-rounded person. He has given me extensive guidance when needed, but also the freedom and support to explore new avenues. I would also like to thank Dr. Susan Ingram and Dr. Rebecca Craft for inspiring me to become a confident female scientist. They are both brilliant role models. I have learned so much from each of them scientifically and I am forever grateful for their guidance and support. I also would like to recognize my family and friends that have encouraged and supported me throughout this whole process. Special thanks to my parents and grandparents who have always inspired me and instilled in me the desire to succeed with a strong work ethic. Most of all I want to thank my husband for his loving support and understanding through these rough years. I would not have survived graduate
