Sustainable development and environmental risks in Estonia.

Abstract: Sustainability in Estonia is based not only on na tural resources and environmental restrictions, but also on the nations culture, spi ritual traditions and ethnic values. Nearly 40 significant environmental problems are identified i n the National Environmental Strategy. A serious problem is past pollution caused by industr ial, agricultural and military activity of the former Soviet Union. To date past pollution dangero us to human health is liquidated and thoroughly monitored in most areas and sites.
