Classroom response systems: What do they add to an active learning environment?

Year: 2005
Type: dissertation
Abstract: Dissatisfaction with traditional classroom models has led to the development of alternative and more interactive instructional methodologies, including those that employ CRSs to increase active participation on the part of students. As the frequency with which CRSs are used in classrooms is increasing, it becomes more and more important to define the affordances and limitations of these tools. The following chapters will first situate this research effort in terms of existing literature (Chapter 2), and then describe the methodology (Chapter 3) and results (Chapter 4).A summary and discussion (Chapter 5) offers the author's interpretation of results and is followed by conclusions and implications for future research (Chapter 6).
