Year: 2013
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: The study addresses the concept of entrepreneurship education and the influence of gender on entrepreneurship based on the longitudinal survey on entrepreneurial interest of University of Zimbabwe students. The study that covered a period of three years compared the male and female students’ entrepreneurial interest based on the nature of business plans they wrote; and the results show that the male students have a higher entrepreneurship interest than female students. Besides, if the business ideas were to be implemented, the male students’ businesses would require more capital outlay, would be riskier and would have more economic impact in the way of employment creation and contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) than the female students’ business ideas.
