Multiple Identities, Multiple Strategies: Confronting State, Capital and Patriarchy

Year: 1999
Type: book-chapter
Abstract: This chapter is based on reflections arising from research on women factory workers over a number of years. The issues and questions in each phase of research changed as our own understanding grew, and along with changes in the general political and economic environment. In spite of variations in research objectives, there were certain common themes. These related to the ways in which women were perceived, and their self-perception, as workers and as women, the possibilities and the limits to organizing, the differences between the interests of women and men workers, and between those of women workers themselves. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
