Avulsion fracture of the supraglenoid tubercle: A variation of the SLAP lesion

Abstract: Tears of the anterior and posterior/superior labrum (SLAP) are often associated with overhead throwing sports. This lesion may be present in the absence of glenohumeral instability. Fracture of the supraglenoid tubercle associated with a SLAP lesion has not been previously reported. Two cases of supraglenoid tubercle fracture associated with the SLAP lesion in overhead throwing activities are presented. The presence of a supraglenoid fracture on a plain radiograph is uncommon, but such a finding may allow early noninvasive diagnosis of the SLAP lesion.
