Abstract: Bicompartmental composite nanoparticles are prepared by electryhydrodyanimic co-jetting with an organic-soluble polymer and titanium precursor, followed by a calcination step to convert the composite particles into stable Janus catalysts. The Janus catalysts retains the original shape and bicompartmental character. Selective growth of carbon nanotubes on one side of the nanoparticles is achieved by spatially localized iron oxide nanocrystals. The product is a new type of Janus particles.
