Year: 2012
Type: dissertation
Abstract: While noting that anger is a common and universal emotion, which occurs when one feels threatened or humiliated, recent studies have shown that anger in adolescents could be the root of aggressive and hostile behaviors. In this research paper, art therapy is introduced as an effective modality in anger regulation interventions with adolescents. Evidence-based research also supports the competence of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) in addressing anger issues in adolescents. In this paper, a group art therapy anger management program is proposed incorporating CBT techniques and based on a review of the existing literature. A program guide, examples of art activities and CBT tasks are proposed in the current paper.
