Using patient‐reported outcome measures as quality indicators in routine cancer care
Year: 2015
Type: editorial
Abstract: Historically, patient‐reported outcome measures assessing symptoms and physical functioning have not been included in quality‐of‐care assessments. This editorial accompanies Smith et al's article on the innovative Patient Reported Outcomes Symptoms and Side Effects Study methodology using the Commission on Cancer's Rapid Quality Reporting System, and it explores methodological advancements needed before patient‐reported outcome measures can be used as quality‐of‐care metrics.
