Abstract: The main objective of this study is to analyze the function of analytic causative constructions in Early Modern Southern Min [Sinitic] in order to elucidate the possible stages of grammaticalization and the diachronic relationships between different periods of Chinese, in particular, between Archaic and Medieval Chinese and the development of Southern Min.
