Abstract: In Latin America, studies on teenage\nfatherhood are just delineated compared\nwith motherhood in the same age groups.\nThere is a symbolic construction around\nthe figure of the teen parent as "absent"\nbut several studies suggest that there are\ndifferent attitudes to parenting that\ndeserve serious scrutiny recently. Being a\nrelatively new topic in the regional\nliterature is attempted in these notes\nprovide an overview of the literature\nconsulted in the first phase of the\nhomonymous research, developed under\nthe Department of Social Work and the\nInterdisciplinary Center for Children and\nPoverty of the University of the Republic -\nUruguay. This is to offer a broad view of\nthe subject at national and regional level.
