Variability in transport microsimulations investigated for MATSim: Preliminary results

Abstract: As part of the recent integration of destination choices for discretionary activities, mechanisms to explicitly treat unobserved heterogeneity in MATSim were developed.This potentially introduced a large amount of randomness to the model as so far the MATSim utility function was deterministic.Adding randomness to a model clearly makes necessary variability analysis.In this paper first steps in assessing the variability of MATSim results are undertaken.The results are preliminary and need comprehensive verification and elaboration.
