Abstract: A mortality trend of road traffic accidents and malignant neoplasm of all sites of Thailand in 1984-1993 by direct adjusted  method using midyear population by sex-ages group of Thailand in 1994 as the standard population. The result are as follows.  1.Mortality of road traffic accidents: The adjusted death  rates during 1984-1993 were higher or equal to the crude death rates for both male and female. Consider only adjusted death rates, the lowest death rate was 8.9 per 10 5 persons in 1986, and increasing every year until 22.3 per 10 5 persons in 1993. The death rate of male was higher than female, 3.7 and 4.8 times in 1986 and 1993 respectively. The death rate of ages group 20-24 years was highest in almost every year except in 1984 and 1987 when the highest death rates was among the ages group 25-29 years. 2. Mortality of malignant neoplasm of all sites: The adjusted death rates during 1984-1993 were higher than crude death rates for both male and female. Consider only adjusted death rates, the lowest rate was 31.0 per 10 5 persons in 1984, and increasing every year until 47.1 per 10 5 persons in 1993. The death rate of males was higher than female, 1.3 and 1.5 times in 1984 and 1993 respectively. The death rates of ages 65 year and older was highest in every year for both male and female. Comparing the adjusted death rates of Thailand in 1993 with Great Britain in 1992, the rate of Great Britain was 3.5 times higher than Thailand (167.1 vs 47.1 per 10 5 persons), 4 times in male (221.2 vs 56.0 per 10 5 persons), 3 times in female ( 113.1 vs 38.2 per 10 5 persons). The death rate of ages 65 year and older was highest and death rates of Great Britain was 4.8 times higher than Thailand (2450.8 vs 514.7 per 10 5 persons), 5.6 times in male (3789.2 vs 680.3 per 10 5 persons) and 3.2 times in female (1112.4 vs 349.1 per 10 5 persons).
