Intradermal botoxin infiltration for peripheral neuropathic pain in the neck
Year: 2013
Type: article
Abstract: Post surgical focal peripheral neuropathic pain following surgery is common (1). Accepted treatment guidelines recommend antineuropathic medications such as amitriptyline and gabapentoids, other medications such as tapentadol, and topical treatments such as lignocaine patches and capsaicin patches (2). However, neuropathic pain fails to respond to these treatments 50% of cases (3) and other treatments should be considered. Intradermal botoxin for focal neuropathic pain is a treatment option in such cases (4)
