Abstract: This article seeks to highlight the ways inwhich workers, who have occupied land for housingconstruction in Uberlândia (MG) betweenthe years 2000-2012, experienced some conditionsand productive relations. We discuss certain interpretationsof the “struggle for the city”, the “strugglefor urban reform”, the “struggle” itself for a“better life” or yet their “only alternative of life”,in the attempt to explain the direct action of theseworkers. From dimensions established betweenhousing, employment and struggle, we locate subjectsas agents of the ways they handle their ownexperiences and how they elaborate discoursesabout their own understanding on economy, politics, community and justice.
