Abstract: Audio recording and transcript of Alex McLellan's 1979 interview with Bernard McNicholl for the Coal Tyee History Project. McLellan discusses living and going to school in the Harewood community and also his various jobs in the Reserve Mine. He reflects on what it was like to work inside a coal mine and he describes both an accident and a cave-in. McLellan describes mining equipment and conditions, and he also talks about the rise of unions. He concludes the interview by speaking about his family connections, social life, and leisure activities.
