Renal Dysfunction, Rather Than Nonrenal Vascular Dysfunction, Mediates Salt-Induced Hypertension
Year: 2016
Type: article
Abstract: L ong-term high salt intake increases the risk for hyper- tension and associated cardiovascular and kidney disease, whereas modest reductions in salt intake significantly decrease blood pressure (BP) in many hypertensive subjects.[1][2][3] However, the mechanisms of salt-induced changes in BP continue to be the subject of considerable interest and controversy.
