Abstract: O. Galland From adolescence to adult life The transition from adolescence to adult life should be considered in terms of interference between a combination of professional, family and matrimonial individual strategies. The author first discusses demographical and sociological material available on the subject. In his opinion, the «marriage market» counts at least as much as the «professional market» and gender relations, as much as class determinants. Such factors could explain the well known extension of this transitory period.
