Abstract: Despite of the progress in conservative dentistry, tooth extraction continues to be an inevitable procedure in oral surgery. With the new prosthetic treatments, the management of the amount of alveolar bone became one of the most important issue in modern dentistry. The low level laser therapy (LLLT) is more and more commonly used as a stimulative tool for cellular activity, with the aim of reducing the inflamation or accelerating healing. The aim of this work is to appreciate the points and limits of LLLT in alveolar bone healing, and to offer a clinical protocol that can study those points. In this goal we realised a systematic review of the literature in the online data bases. The analyse of the studies results gave promising results about using LLLT in alveolar bone healing, especially about the duration of bone healing and maturation, which seem to be significantly shorter. But the studies are not numerous, and the clinical protocols used differ, so the benefit of the techniques is still to be shown. In this goal we offered a clinical protocol allowing to evaluate the benefits of LLLT in alveolar bone after dental extraction.
