Experimental Realization of Tunable Photonic Spin Hall Effect by Tailoring the Pancharatnam-Berry Phase
Year: 2013
Type: preprint
Abstract: Tunable photonic spin Hall effect (SHE) is experimentally realized in this work by tailoring the space-variant Pancharatnam-Berry phase (PBP). It is demonstrated that vector beams whose polarization with a tunable spatial inhomogeneity can contribute to steering the space-variant PBP, thereby realizing a tunable photonic SHE with any desired spin-dependent splitting. Our scheme provides a convenient degree of freedom to manipulate the photon spin states and can be extrapolated to other physical systems due to the similar topological origins.
