Hydrodynamic Dispersion in Unsaturated Porous Media I. Concentration Distribution during Dispersion
Year: 1973
Type: article
Abstract: Measurements of chloride ion concentration, using a silver—silver chloride electrode system in situ, were made during hydrodynamic dispersion in an unsaturated porous medium. The seepage velocity and solution content of the medium were varied independently. Steady state one-dimensional bulk solution flow, driven only by gravity, was established in a tilted porous bed, which should result in uniform solution content in the bed. The patterns of data obtained were consistent with effects reflecting the presence of stagnant liquid zones.
