Les énoncés au futur comportant l'adverbe mar et l'expression de l'interdiction en ancien français
Year: 1995
Type: article
Abstract: This article aims at precisely defining the relationship that exists in Old French between two types of utterances that are usually assimilated : utterances with future verbs combined with the adverb mar - - and negative imperatives. By referring to the distinction between explicit and implicit content, and to the existing ordering between them, we claim that utterances have an injunctive behaviour of their own : the injunctive interpretation of utterances is always based on one of their implicit contents ; moreover, it can be justified only on the grounds of a contextual analysis of the utterances.
