Tracking the emergence of multidrug resistant, extraintestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli in India
Year: 2016
Type: article
Abstract: Background: It is important and rather need of the hour to unravel the risk of antimicrobial resistance from a public health perspective in high burden countries such as India. The clinical significance of isolating multi-drug resistant (MDR) E. coli from hospitalized patients merits sustained attention. The objective of this study was to describe the evolution of antibiotic resistance and to gather evidence on spread of antimicrobial resistance by clonal expansion of clinical E. coli lineages.
