Pd15-09 Outcomes After Implementation of Software Fusion Mri-targeted Biopsy: Is Fusion Better Than Cognitive Targeting?
Year: 2016
Type: article
Abstract: 8/20 patients with lesions identified retrospectively. On multivariate analysis, lower PSA (p <.001), higher MR prostate volume (p<.001), and lower number of target cores (p<.001) were independent predictors of upgrading by SBx.CONCLUSIONS: MRI rarely misses CS CaP lesions and FBx, if accurate, should reflect the true disease state. Most upgrading by SBx was to low risk, low volume CaP.In patients upgraded by SBx to CS CaP, mpMRI identified a targetable lesion within the SBx sextant in a majority of patients.FBx failure may be related to suboptimal imaging or biopsy related inaccuracy including registration error or mechanical error.Other possibilities include presence of tumor heterogeneity, multifocality within the same sextant, or low volume disease.Future studies with biopsy mapping on MRI will provide insight into mechanisms of failure in patients with overlapping target and sextant sampling.
