Abstract: Mechanical alloying(MA) and mechanical grinding(MG) using a ball mill have attracted much attention as a solid state amorphization process, which approaches thermodynamically from the opposite side against the conventional procedure of melt or vapor quenching. This article reviews the atomic-scale structure and property of NiZr, Ni2V3, Co5Y and 3BiFeO3-ZnFe2O4 amorphous solids prepared by MA and MG.
