Abstract: Isaiah Bowman, an opponent of Geopolitik. — This paper examines the relation between science and ideology in the light of Isaiah Bowman's opposition to German Geopolitik — an opposition of a methodological and philosophical, as well as a political, nature. The aim is to demonstrate that Geopolitik, far from being only an ethical issue, is related to all the major epistemological problems encountered today in geography.
