Abstract: Pain in the elderly with cancer Ezgi MutLuayProlonging life span lead to lose the ability of the cells's regeneration and the development of cancer cells.Cancer patients may suffer from pain related tumor invasion or compression of pain-sensitive structures, diagnosis and treatment of cancer or non-cancer reasons.Pain adversely affect activities of daily life and leads to decrease their quality of life.Therefore, evalution of pain in elderly patients plays an important role in the treatment process and quality of life.This requires a multi-dimensional approach, such as physical, emotional, and psychosocial.Nurses should identify and evaluate subjective symptom of pain, choose the appropriate methods of relieving pain.Key words: Pain; cancer; elderly.Yaşam süresinin uzaması hücrelerin yenilenme yeteneğini kaybetmesine ve kanser hücrelerinin gelişmesine yol açmaktadır.Kanser hastaları, ağrıya duyarlı yapıların tümörle invazyonu veya kompresyonu, kanser tanı ve tedavisine ya da kanser dışı nedenlere bağlı ağrı yaşayabilmektedirler. Ağrı, bireylerin günlük yaşam aktivitelerini olumsuz yönde etkileyerek yaşam kalitelerinin azalmasına neden olmaktadır.Bu nedenle yaşlı hastalarda ağrının değerlendirilmesi tedavi süreci ve yaşam kaliteleri açısından önemli bir yer tutmaktadır.Yaşlılarda ağrının değerlendirilmesi fiziksel, emosyonel ve psikososyal açıdan çok boyutlu yaklaşım gerektirmektedir.
