Cell Phenotyping: Multiparametric Biomechanical and Biochemical Phenotypic Profiling of Single Cancer Cells Using an Elasticity Microcytometer (Small 17/2016)

Year: 2016
Type: article
Abstract: An elasticity microcytometer capable of multiparametric biomechanical and biochemical phenotypic profiling of single cancer cells is developed to interpret cell deformation along antibody-coated confining microchannels as quantitative cell characteristics including cell size, cell deformability/stiffness, and expression levels of surface receptors simultaneously for the same single live cancer cells. This elasticity microcytometer, developed by R. H. W. Lam, J. Fu and co-workers on page 2300, holds a great promise for comprehensive molecular, cellular, and biomechanical phenotypic profiling of live cancer cells at the single cell level.
