Abstract: For scientific elitists, advantage accumulation provides them utmost possibilities of having outstanding scientific achievements in their research fields. The factors of advantage accumulation include: talent, academic experience in distinguished universities, experience of being advised by great scientists and/or having studied abroad, being born of a intellectual family and research experience in first-class research institutions, etc. However, the supreme criterion for judging a scientific elitist is always the academic standard of the scientist. To foster scientific elitists in China, attention should be paid to the international resources and the foundation of universal competition mechanism.
