Application of next-generation sequencing technology in plant genetic research

Abstract: The second generation sequencing technology is also named next-generation sequencing technology.It has higher throughput,lower cost and shorter time-consuming than Sanger sequencing.The features of 454,Illumina/Solexa and SOLi D sequencing technologies,and their applications in plant genome,transcriptome and microRNA researches were introduced and summarized in this paper.The future development of high throughput sequencing technology was also prospected.
