Abstract: Comparing Puritanism ethics with Confucian culture,cultural values unintendedly plays an either positive or negative role for the science development in a specific period of time.The two cultural values have different functions for modern science on the aspects of orientation for scientific values,guidance for scientific attitude,cultivation for scientific interest and nurturance for scientific spirit.Establishing appropriate scientific cultural values and creating the cultural environment that promotes science development are eternal subjects for the science progress and social development.
