Cardiac arrest in an adolescent with Uhl’s anomaly: Two unusual cardiac arrhythmia mechanisms

Year: 2016
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: KEY TEACHING POINTS•Cardiac arrest in patients with Uhl’s disease may be secondary to multiple different arrhythmias, as shown in our case report—atrioventricular (AV) node reentrant tachycardia and fascicular–ventricular tachycardia—and is not exclusively a result of ventricular tachycardia.•While previously reported in adult patients, 1:2 AV conduction and AV node reentrant tachycardia can occur in the adolescent age group. AV node reentrant tachycardia can be associated with 2:1 ventricular-to-atrial conduction.•In the setting of unusual cardiac anatomy (Uhl’s disease) and conduction system anomalies, we provide evidence for a novel mechanism for a wide complex QRS tachycardia (fascicular–ventricular reentrant tachycardia).
