Abstract: uMMARY The contents of two distinct protein antigens, a and ,, in unheated culture filtrates of a virulent strain (H37Rv) of IV!ycob@cteii'!,?11 tt, bel'c!,/on:, and their association \\, ith the bacterial cell \\, ere studied.Quantitative precipitation employing specific anti-a and -, rabbit sera showed that the proteiiT components responsible for a and A antigens comprised ITearly 70 per cent of the total protein released by the strain H37Rvinto the medium.Evidence is also presented indicatin that botlT a and fi antigens are present onjin the cells of tile tubercle bacilli presumably as surface components.
