Abstract: This paper reports on research in progress of a field study of online classes to determine the effect of some synchronous media use in a primarily asynchronous discussion.The research is looking for the presence of indicators of constructivism in online learning.The proposition is made that social presence and swift trust will contribute to the success of online teaching by enhancing the constructivist method.
