Multimodal management of diffuse neonatal hemangiomatosis

Abstract: We read with interest the recent article by Stratte et al. entitled “Multimodal Management of Diffuse Neonatal Hemangiomatosis” (J Am Acad Dermatol 1997;34:337-42) in which our experience with interferon alfa for the treatment of hemangiomas was quoted. In the discussion, the authors mention that interferon alfa-2a may be administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously. To our knowledge, in the major studies published to date, this drug has been administered exclusively via the subcutaneous route.
