Year: 2016
Type: article
Abstract: The purpose of this article is to analyze how two basic emotions like joy and pleasure were expressed in a fifteenth-century chronicle, namely El Victorial by Gutierre Díaz de Games. Since the chronicle is a chivalric biography, its pages highlight a particular vision of joy and pleasure. Consequently, the chronicle offers a variety of circumstances in which knights were meant to experience pleasure and happiness. These circumstances range from court festivities to victories in battles, as well as those involving love and friendship.
