Abstract: A thermoelectric cooling module which has been modified for experimental and potential clinical utilization is described. The Emory local cooling device fulfills the research needs of investigators examining the effects of specific thermal afferent input on the nervous system and is readily adaptable to clinical applications. The device utilizes the Peltier effect for thermoelectric cooling and derives ultimate feasibility from its relatively easy and economical construction.
